Betty Crocker garlic mashed and Au Gratin potatoes are just .79 cents per box. Target has these at .79 cents a few weeks ago but now they are at $2.00 so this is a good deal. What makes it even better is you can print a 40 cents off coupon and get them for 39 cents!! There were also 40 cents off coupons in the 11/16 smart source insert. Stock up this is a good price.
Health Tip: For people who have to cut back on sodium you don't have to used those seasoning packets--it's still a good price for the ready potatoes that you can season yourself.
Green Giant Steamers are $1 and there was $1 off coupon in the 11/16 SmartSource. This is a great price. I've seen them at Jewel (Albertsons) for $2.50 and they are at Target for $1.60. Get them at Walmart for FREE!!! These are healthy too---low in carbs and sodium and you cook them in the micro right in the bag. Go buy some coupons on ebay and stock up. You could be eatting these forever if you bid right.

What to do with all those canned tomatoes? Here is an idea on how to use them. When I'm making pasta and using jarred pasta sauce, I'll head up a sauce pan, add some olive oil and then diced garlic. I let that cook a bit (don't let garlic brown), then I add one can of diced tomaotes. Let that cook a bit, then add the jarred pasta sauce. It adds substance to the pasta and it's REALLY good.

Print out this $1 off Rayovac coupon. Oh heck, just print a bunch. And go to Target where you can get these for FREE!!

I just read a cool article that shows you how to send an email/text for free. I can type about 90 wpm on a keyboard, but with texting--forget it. It takes me forever and to make it worse I feel a need to say each word just as slow as I type it so I look like a moron. Sending a text message in the form of email is much easier for me, and happy day, it's free too. By sending it via the SMS gateway you bypass the cell phone companies text carrier and you and/or the recipient are not charged.

With the economy in the dumps I thought I'd add this freebie. If you want to see if you can modify your mortgage loan, this site has a free loan modification application and consultation. It will cost to actually modify the loan, but at least you can find out for free if you can even do it. If they give the thumbs up, it's something to consider if you're looking for ways to keep your home. They claim to be 99% successful.

Boxes of Turtles (candy) 99 cents each!!
Boxes of DeMets Turtles are $2.49 at Walgreens. There was a coupon for $1.50 off in last Sunday's paper making these just 99 cents!! If you would like sugar free turtles, they are in a bag so you'll have to check that area, but they are the same price.

Consumers Cutting Back
Some 58% of Americans feel that the economy has reached a low point and nearly half (47%) think it will stay this way for a while, prompting spending cutbacks on nearly everything - from charitable contributions to dining out to beauty and grooming products, according to the November/December 2008 Insight Report from MarketTools, Inc.
71% of all respondents are reducing dining out costs today vs. 66% in the last survey in April 2008.
34% of households are cutting back on purchases of beauty or grooming products compared with 27%previously.
30% of households are reducing spending on kids’ toys and games, despite the holiday, compared with 25% of households in the last report.
19% of respondents are cutting back on purchasing non-prescription medications compared to 16% in the last survey.
“Although more than half of Americans are feeling impacted by the economy this holiday season, consumers will still be making purchases,” said Beth Rounds, SVP of research solutions at MarketTools. “This economic crisis will outlast the holiday season, so companies need to listen to their customers to understand how consumers are responding to budgetary pressures.”

In contrast, one in three African-American moms (31%) either doesn’t use left overs or uses them less now than in the past.
Many moms also are trying to find ways to do more one-stop shopping to save time and money, the survey found. Nearly two thirds (63%) of moms try to one-stop shop, especially those with children age two and under (69%). In last Sunday's paper there was a good coupon for DelMonte. Buy (4) cans of veggies and get $1 off. Target has the DelMonte green beans on sale for 50 cents which is a great deal making them just 25 cents per can with the coupon. All others were priced at $1.10 a can. Not being a fan of green beans, I used one of those scanners at the end of the aisle to see if any others scanned at 50 cents. The sweet corn did!!!
